A directory of architecturally significant houses in the United States: where they are, who designed them, when they were built, and whether you can go inside.

Every published house carries a source link. Entries submitted by visitors stay in draft until an editor has checked the address, the architect and the access status.

Most of these houses are lived in. Where a house is marked private, the directory shows an approximate location only, and the right way to see it is from the public street. Do not enter the property, do not knock, do not photograph through windows.

Wrong year, wrong architect, pin in the wrong field? Send a correction and it will be checked against the source before anything changes.
